Planning continues for music conservatorium on Lake Park, in which a concert hall has been planned for its north end, with about half of the total parking lot for the venue.
The project is in conjunction with the community effort, led by the Northbrook Community Garden Center and the Northwest Farmington Improvement Association. Community members plan to partner with the Conservatory of Arts, which owns the land, and the Lake Park Conservatory in planning and financing.
“We all know what a hard-working community we are,” said Lina Besser, the garden center’s director. “When you hear that community, your heart sinks. It’s true; there are so many people, and there is so much community spirit and hope and energy here. It’s hard to imagine anything else.
“But at the end of the day, you still can’t buy a new car,” she added.
As for what comes next, Besser said, “There’s still many steps to be taken before we get the plan for the future.”
